26 weeks, 4 days... and I look terrible in this photo sans makeup! |
Size of babies: Scallions
Baby Update: Babies are 14 inches from head to heel and about 2 lbs in weight. They can hear the sound of my voice and the voices of people I talk to. Babies are inhaling and exhaling small amounts of amniotic fluid, which is essential for lung development.
Weight Gain: Not quite sure- I've been avoiding the scale this week!
Symptoms: Well, the swelling has started- with this heat, it was bound to happen at some point.... I was just hoping it would start later. The swelling is mainly in my fingers and feet- most of my sandals leave indentations on my feet... looks like it's time to start wearing flip flops to work! I've been getting more tired and irritable- especially in this heat. On the plus side... I do NOT have Gestational Diabetes! Yahoo! I passed the 3-hr Glucose test and was SO relieved to get the call from the Doctor earlier this week.
Movement: Pretty soon my belly button is going to go from an "innie" to an "outie." I can start to feel major body parts now- wish I could see what positions the babies are in now, although, I'm pretty sure that Baby Boy is still transverse.
Exercise: Yes! I actually walked 4 times this week in my neighborhood with Adam and Sofia in the evening. I logged about 4 miles total.
Sleep: I broke a new record and got up 3 times to pee the night before last- on average it's more like 1-2 times per night.Other than that- I sleep pretty well with the body pillow and the AC on full blast.
Food Cravings: In today's 85 degree heat, I had a sudden craving for a McDonald's Chocolate Chip Frappe today- Adam and Sofia were in the car with me and Adam was on a hunt to find the closest McDonald's in the Scarborough area (as that's where we were at the time of the craving) and wouldn't you know that the darn McD's was closed! Fortunately there was a Wendy's right down the road so I had a Frosty instead... crisis averted.
Food Aversions: Mushrooms
Happy Anniversary Adam! Adam and I celebrated our 4th wedding anniversary on Thursday, 7/11. My mom took Sofia for an overnight so we could have a proper date night. We had dinner at Walters in Portland and had a great time. Adam surprised me with a new Pandora charm- the "He Loves Me" charm which is a flower, and apparently flowers are the symbol representing the 4th wedding anniversary (I did not know this). After dinner we had some homemade Gelato (reminiscent of our Italian honeymoon) and then went home and watched our wedding video (which is what we do on every anniversary- I got the idea from my cousin, Anne.) I can't believe it's been four years already- but look at all we've accomplished!
Nesting... it's not just for the birds... I'm in major nesting mode right now. I can't seem to sit still. For example, today, after we went to a brunch with friends and then hit the beach, I cleaned my entire car- vacuumed, dusted the dashboard, washed the windows, etc. Then I proceeded to vacuum the garage! There were so many dead bugs and cobwebs in our garage windows that I was totally repulsed and vacuumed them right up with the shop vac and then proceeded to vacuum the garage floor- I mean... who does that?! I also went through 6 bins of baby clothes and unpacked all the 0-3 and 3-6 month girl clothes. This little girl is all set- little boy, however, I hope you like wearing pink... haha... 'cause I have barely any boy clothes.
NYC = not so much. I was supposed to fly to NYC this weekend to attend my college friend's bridal shower but I decided that flying at this stage in the game just isn't worth the risk- especially flying solo without Adam. So I cancelled my flight and I was able to get fully refunded since it was for medical reasons. I got a Dr's note and submitted to Delta and they are refunding me in full (for what was originally a non-refundable ticket).
Fitts and Cutters....We attended a brunch today with another set of identical twins- whom Adam and Aaron went to college with and were quite close to- Kristen and Heather Fitts. My-oh-my, those two girls are hard to tell apart... and when they hold each other's kids, I get even more confused! Photos below and you'll see what I mean...

Cousin Grace and Sofia at Highland Lake Public Beach for Sofia's swimming lesson They had very similar bathing suits on- it was totally adorable. |
See you next week... which marks the beginning of the 3rd trimester!
